The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee, in partnership with the Manchester Historic Association and the Manchester Health Department, has completed a self-guided walking tour of downtown Manchester, NH. By providing a guide through much of the amazing history encompassed in Manchester, the Chamber hopes to promote the physical health of our community while encouraging the economic health of tourism in Manchester.

The tour is divided in two sections: The Millyard and the Hanover Street/Victory Park historic district. Each section is anticipated to require about an hour of walking at a leisurely pace. Key stops along the tour include the Millyard Museum, Jefferson Mill, Falls Overlook, the lobby of PSNH, City Hall, NH Institute of Art, Manchester Public Library, Manchester Historic Association and the Franco-American Centre.

The purpose of the guide is two-fold: first, to support tourism by providing visitors with an interesting historical experiential tour that is authentic and unique to Manchester. Additional foot traffic throughout downtown increases the visibility and of our local restaurants, shops and attractions and encourages the overall economic health of tourism in our community. The second purpose is to serve the greater Manchester community by providing a healthy outdoor activity that will remind residents of the Manchester they once knew and reintroduce them to the Manchester of today.
